Young men enter the monkhood for spiritual training, to gain merit for for themselves and their parents, it is a feeling that a man who has been a monk cannot be considered a mature adulf.

Just before Khao Phansa (Buddhist Lent) Day, which falls on the 15th day of the waxing moon in the 8th lunar month, Buddhists all over Thailand usually hold a candle procession to offer wax candles to the monks. In Ubon Ratchaburi, an elaborate Candle Festival is held in July every year. Highlights of this Festival are a variety of wax candle sculpture contests, float contests, and a beauty contest. A large number of Thai and foreign tourists visit Ubon Ratchathani during this period to admire and appreciate these magnificent carved candles.

Wat Arun

Wat Arun is a Buddhist temple (wat) in the Bangkok Yai district of Bangkok, Thailand, on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. The full name of the temple is Wat Arunratchawararam Ratchaworamahawihan

Architecture

The outstanding feature of Wat Arun is its central prang (Khmer-style tower). It may be named "Temple of the Dawn" because the first light of morning reflects off the surface of the temple with a pearly iridescence. Steep steps lead to the two terraces. The height is reported by different sources as between 66,80 m and 86 m. The corners are surrounded by 4 smaller satellite prangs. The prangs are decorated by seashells and bits of porcelain which had previously been used as ballast by boats coming to Bangkok from China.

The central prang is topped with a seven-pronged trident, referred to by many sources as the "trident of Shiva".

Around the base of the prangs are various figures of ancient Chinese soldiers and animals. Over the second terrace are four statues of the Hindu god Indra riding on Erawan.

At the riverside are 6 pavilions in Chinese style. The pavilions are made of green granite and contain landing bridges.

Next to the prangs is the Ordination Hall with the Niramitr Buddha image supposedly designed by King Rama II. The front entrance of the Ordination Hall has a roof with a central spire, decorated in coloured ceramic and stuccowork sheated in coloured china. There are 2 demons, or temple guardian figures in front.

Chao Phraya River

Thailand's Main. It flows south through the country's fertile central plain for more than 225 miles (365 km) to the Gulf of Thailand. The capital of Thailand, past and present (Bangkok), were placed on the bank or those of its tributaries and tributaries, like many other cities.

The Chao Phraya River, is a useful way to reflect the nation's traditional exports of teak and rice south of Bangkok, commodities, but leaner now induced overland by truck or rail. For centuries, the Thais have made use of the Chao Phraya River, and in certain channel (Khlong) system, drainage, recreation and fishing, as well as a source of water.

The sources of the River Ping, Wang, Yom and Nan rivers originate in the mountains of northern Thailand. In Nakhon Sawan, begins 140 km north of Bangkok, the Main and the confluence of the Ping-Nan. Its tortuous course flows past Chai Nat (site of a dam on the government and the irrigation system), Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Nonthaburi, and Bangkok to its mouth at Samut Prakan. Since its founding in Nakhon Sawan, the river falls below 80 feet (24 meters) on his journey to the sea.

The Chao Phraya system drains 61,807 square miles (160,079 km ²) and is the base for several large irrigation projects. The catchment area is low, the whole arm of the Gulf of Thailand, which is scarred by numerous tributaries. About Chai Nat, a branch of the river arms Nakhon Chai Si-west and parallel to the flow of the mother to the Gulf of Samut Sakhon, 25 miles (40 km) west of the main mouth. The main stream divides and meets several times. Chai Nat under the branches of the Noi River in the west and flows into the Chao Phraya river in Sam Khok. The Lop Buri river arms in the east and before returning to the main flow passes through the cities of Lop Buri and Ayutthaya, the latter receives a large tributary of the East Pa Sak river from the mountains in the northeast of Phetchabun.

Tides run along the meandering Chao Phraya to Ayutthaya. The delta plain around Bangkok is rarely more than 7 feet (2 meters) above sea level, floods and landslides collects annually rich rice fields. In the delta of the Chao Phraya River, the Mae Klong in the West, and Bang Pakong in the East are connected by a network of canals.

The course of 25 miles below Bangkok is lined with docks and port facilities. The mouth of the deep water channel requires frequent dredging and can not accommodate large ships of 10,000 tons.

Industrial Ring Road Bridge

The Industrial Ring Road Bridge is part of the 13 km long Industrial Ring Road connecting southern Bangkok with Samut Prakan Province. The Industrial Ring Road Bridge crosses the Chao Phraya River twice, with two striking cable-stayed spans of lengths of 702 m and 582 m supported by two diamond-shaped pylons 173 m and 164 m high. Where the two spans meet, another road rises to join them at a free-flowing interchange suspended 50 metres above the ground. The Industrial Ring Road Bridge over the Chao Phraya in Bangkok are named after a member of the Royal Family; in this case, it has been planned that the be named after Dipangkorn Rasmijoti, fifth son of Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn, although as of 2009 the naming has not been made official. The unofficial name "Mega Bridge" was also widely used.

Between the two bridges an elevated central interchange connects the main North-South route with the western approach. The three approaches are designed as continuous concrete box girders with spans varying between 64m for the high level viaducts to 36m for the will consist of eight miles of roadway and two, 560-foot-high, cable-stayed bridges. The road and its so-called Mega Bridges will span the Chao Phraya River twice without touching down in between because of the meandering flow of the river on its way to the Gulf of Thailand. Further, in between the two bridges, a 165-foot-high intersection will be constructed for motorists traveling north, eliminating the need to cross the second bridge; the narrow strip of land between parts of the river makes it impossible to construct a surface-level intersection.
Marvel of of The Industrial Ring Road Bridge is The Mega Bridge in Bangkok Thailand then Thailand Post has chosen The Industrial Ring Road Bridge to set in the Amazing Thailand Postage Stamps

Wat Suthat Thepwararam :The Giant Swing

Wat Suthat Thepwararam is a royal temple of the first grade. It was King Rama I's intention to make Bangkok as glorious as Ayutthaya had been, so built a temple as large as Wat Phanan Choeng in the Old Capital to install a large image of the Buddha named Phra Sri Sakyamuni which had been brought down from the grand Wihan of Wat Mahathat in Sukhothai. When he had finished the foundation of the grand Wihan and placed the Buddha image in its proper place, he passed away. King Rama II went on with the building by continuing with the Wihan. He himself worked on the carving of the central door panels but he passed away before the temple was completed. During the reign of King Rama III the Wihan was finished and he added many more buildings all over the temple compound. He gave the name to the Buddha image in the grand Wihan, of Phra Sri Sakyamuni and the one in the Ordination Hall, of Phra Trilokachet and the name of the temple as Wat Suthat Thepwararam. Renovation took place in the reign of King Rama V. This temple is highly admired for its entire plan.
The Giant Swing and environs in the older part of Bangkok. The Swing Ceremony, entirely Brahmanical in origin, was last performed in 1935. Behind the swing stands Wat Suthat, an excellent example of Bangkok period architecture, the construction of which was initiated during the First Reign and completed in the Third Reign.
